The T-3 is a barrel bat - cylinder bat - just like any other bat. What makes the T-3 very unique is it can hit live pitching. It is a training bat, but it is also used for the purpose of training while you're hitting live pitches, such as in batting practice. You can't use it in a game because any time you have an altered bat it is illegal. So this is not a live game bat - it is for training purposes only.

It has a dual loading system at the bottom and at the end. The plug at the end cap comes out and can be replaced with different weights. It also counterbalances. The bottom knob comes off and loads up with weight.

The sliding mechanism allows us to move something heavier because it gives us a leverage mechanism. So when I load up the end portion of the bat, the sliding grip gets me closer to the barrel of the bat. We're just simply using a leverage fulcrum type of action here - basic physics. We're getting closer to the head of the bat, so it lets me start to dominate that head. That's what I envision for a hitter to do is to dominate the head of the bat. As we get closer to the barrel we can handle the heavier weight, but the sliding action also starts to create the mechanics that we want to create - or the path that we want to hit the baseball. When we put our body in the hitting position we want the swing to be as quick as possible from the start of the swing to the contact zone, and that's what the sliding top handle helps us to do.

When we load up the bat, the counterbalance actually makes the head feel lighter. Physically you're swinging a heavier weight, but you get a feel of the bat head being a little bit lighter. And that's what's really unique about the T-3 bat! We want to learn to create and teach the feeling of dominating the head of the bat. Your body still gets the overload principle, whatever the weight may be. If I physically add 10 ounces in the handle knob, I have physically added 10 ounces to the bat - but it gives you the feeling of the bat being lighter in the barrel portion. The counter balance load focuses the emphasis of the weight in the bottom portion of the bat, which lets you start creating powerful, explosive head speed. And that's what it's all about! So we can take heavier weights, get that over-speed training effect yet we're moving heavier weight faster. So not only are we creating the explosive mechanics in the swing, but we're also training two crucial elements of training, over-speed and overload, and we're getting it all at once.
